La cinta ha funcionado entre la crítica y el público, quienes llegan a darle un 93% de puntuación. Y, lo más importante para el estudio, tampoco le ha ido mal en taquilla, puesto que con tan solo un fin de semana de estreno ha alcanzado los 39 millones de dólares de recaudación. Esto la sitúa por encima de una de las mayores sagas de la carrera de Statham: Los mercenarios.
"Jason tiene la habilidad de hacer cosas que parecen físicamente imposible pero las crees porque las hace él. Es muy bueno en eso. Es una estrella de cine pura, muy profesional y todo el mundo en el set le adora", le define su compañero de reparto Josh Hutcherson en una entrevista con SensaCine. Hutcherson, el mismo que interpretó al entrañable Peeta de Los juegos del hambre, cambia de registro radicalmente para interpretar al hombre al que Statham está buscando.
